The City College of New York’s Mission to the United Nations is an organization that focuses on spreading awareness of the activities and projects carried out by the various agencies in the United Nations throughout the City College of New York campus. We will focus on the United Nations future global development agenda called the Post – 2015 Development Agenda, which will be enacted in 2015. The Post – 2015 Development Agenda looks to ensure that globalization becomes a positive force for all the worlds’ peoples of present and future generations. In order to achieve these goals, the CCNY’s Mission to the UN DPI has broken down its mission into four areas of concentration:

1. Inclusive Social Development which focuses on preventative, curative, and promotional health services with an emphasis on newborn and childhood survival, safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, and combating HIV and AIDs.

2. Environmental Sustainability which focuses on the prevention of land degradation, unsustainable water use, looking at the issue of biodiversity, development of green technology, looking at traditional and indigenous knowledge as a solution/guide, improving education about sustainability.

3. Inclusive Economic Development which focuses onstructural development policies enabling adequate generations of productive employment and decent work, reduction of poverty and inequalities welfare protection, stronger policy coordination and consistency, sustainable agriculture and industrial productivity, and education.

4. Peace and Security, which focuses on violence against women and girls, human trafficking, labor exploitation and effective governance at national, local, and municipal levels.
